Located on Spain’s glorious southern Costa Blanca and boasting two vast salt lakes, the city of Torrevieja has been recognised as having one of the healthiest climates in the world. With over 300 days of sunshine per year, average August temperatures of 30 degrees Celsius and mild winters, Torrevieja is a superb holiday destination.
Torrevieja Airports Easily accessed by the international Alicante Airport, the city also enjoys good road access from the main AP-7 motorway that stretches all the way from Marbella to Barcelona and beyond, bringing with it a fair share of Spanish holidaymakers. Another popular route into the city is the N-332 dual carriageway with links to both airports. A good choice of car hire is available at both airports and there are a number independent car hire companies in the city.
Torrevieja boasts a regular and efficient local bus service that has routes to most of the city’s residential areas and neighbouring towns. For longer journeys there are coaches that leave from the main bus terminus and travel to a number of major towns and cities along the Costa Blanca such as Cartagena, Alicante and Benidorm. With the beach as a reference point and the city laid out in a grid system, walking is simple and often the best way to explore any new town or city where you will find hidden gems often missed when in a car or on a bus. Alternately there is a small selection of bike and scooter hire companies in the city, some also offering electric bikes.
